Speed Humps ‘magically’ appeared today.
After searching I found that recommendations were made at Randwick City Council’s Traffic Committee in June 2014 (see above).
There was no consultation with the wider community, no consultation on Randwick City Council’s website, no notification on its Facebook. La Perouse is a major tourist destination and a top cycling destination. The reason given for humps is to control ‘hoons’. The obvious would be to reduce the speed to 40km (it was supposed to be slower as part of the upgrade ) and install cameras to catch anti-social behaviour rather than disadvantage the thousands of visitors (many from the Randwick municipality) who come here for the walks, cycling, cafes and heritage.
